Hi friends!
This is a place where you are all welcome and you will all be loved. I am a simple girl, living in Ohio, who loves to cook and I am certain that I have found a “healthier” alternative to any sweet or salty craving. I love creating recipes to make them lower in carbs and lower in sugar to fit my dietary needs since having gastric bypass and losing 170 pounds and maintaining my weight loss.
Shortly after gastric bypass, I began exercising and I fell in love with it. I started with the elliptical, then began jogging, which evolved into running. Before I knew it I was running 8 minute miles and running in races. I started working out with a personal trainer and I was in the best physical shape of my life. In March of 2019, I was diagnosed with a serious neurological condition, called Hemiplegic Migraines. The episodes mimic strokes and the effects of the episodes can be permanent. We found that my episodes were triggered by late shifts at work and overheating during exercise and running. During my time off of work, I created this blog. I had to take two years off exercising, learn how to maintain my weight loss, and put my extra time into creating this space for you all! God works in mysterious ways. I have now been cleared to workout slowly and have been cleared to start jogging.
Gastric bypass surgery, losing 170 pounds, and being morbidly obese for decades has left me with excess skin. I have actually learned to embrace it and have no plans of surgery to remove it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with plastic surgery, it just does not interfere with my daily life. I have become very passionate about being confident in my own skin and sharing body confidence and promoting self-love.
Beauty and makeup have always been a passion of mine. It always “fit.” No matter what size I was, makeup and skincare were always guaranteed to be “one size fits all.” As I lost weight, I started to enjoy buying clothes and getting dressed up became fun. Although, my favorite outfit to this day is still a comfy Happy Givers t-shirt and a good pair of Amazon leggings.
I absolutely love Jesus and I will never stop sharing the good things that He has done in my life. Jesus led me to gastric bypass after years of struggling with being morbidly obese. I also prayed for a long time about whether or not I should share my story and Jesus led me to share my story.
I am a big believer in spreading kindness and I think that kindness can change the world. Kindness comes in all forms but it is one of the most simple and priceless things you can offer someone.
No matter who you are, where you have come from, there is something for you here. Whether you are looking for a healthy recipe to print, a comfy outfit, a fun makeup look, an inspirational quote, looking to fall in love with yourself again- you have come to the right place. My goal is to make you smile, make your day a little brighter, and hopefully make your life a little easier with some of the resources I have here!
Love and hugs,
xoxo Maddie
