Food

After bariatric surgery, I got into the all or nothing mentality pretty strongly. I transitioned into a mindful eating mentality and it has led me to a very successful spot in maintenance on my bariatric journey. I love sharing grocery hauls and finding foods that fit into my high protein, moderate fat, moderate carbohydrate lifestyle. I do try and stick with a low sugar diet because that is what sits best in my bariatric stomach and fits best into my lifestyle. Being in tune with your body and how you feel while you are eating food can be very challenging and that in and of itself is a journey that is going to be ever changing and lifelong. Mindful and intuitive eating can feel very confusing at first but it can be very freeing when you move away from constantly tracking food if you are able to do it in a safe way and remain in maintenance. I realize there is no “one size fits all” when it comes to eating and food for bariatric patients. This is just what has worked for me.
