My First Botox Experience!

First things first. Let’s set some things straight. My blog is a judgement free zone. I don’t judge you; therefore please don’t judge me. I CHOSE to get botox and if you don’t agree with botox, you can just quit reading right now. Personally I believe I was just as beautiful before I got botox, it was something I wanted to do and my sister did it for me for my 31st birthday. My sister opened her own business, Vial of Youth at the end of May and she treated me to botox for my birthday. She is an RN and an aesthetic nurse injector in Fairview Park, Ohio. I was so skeptical about getting botox and scared to death that my face would be frozen and unable to move. Just ask my sister, Leslie how many times I went back and forth about getting botox.

There were just a few small areas that I wanted “softened.” In the top left photo, I had some deep set lines between my brows, known at 11 (eleven) lines. Ever since my weight loss, a few hours after applying makeup, I would have my makeup getting stuck in these lines. It was not something I was overly sensitive about but something that I was sure happy to get rid of if possible. In the lower left photo, you can see when I smiled at times, I would have some wrinkles in my forehead. These were not present before my weight loss. I am a very expressive person and I DO NOT have a “poker face.” I still wanted to have movement in my face and wanted expression lines.

So my sister, Leslie used a “baby botox” approach and used less than the recommended dose of botox for starting out on someone with the amount of wrinkles I had. I preferred this. As you can see on the picture on the right- I have an overall softened, refreshed look to my face now. I just look a little more awake. My forehead is not heavy. This picture was taken 10 days after my botox injections.

the procedure

Leslie sat me down and did a consultation with me. She took into consideration that I would have rather had a few wrinkles left than no movement in my face. That was my fear (no movement). So we went light on the botox, especially for my first time. The consultation and marking takes longer than the actual procedure. Here is how my sister marked my face to determine where she was going to inject the botox.

The actual procedure takes like 5-10 minutes and did not cause me any pain at all. You will hear on my video that I post right below that it was not until the third injection that I said “I didn’t even feel it until like the third stick?” I have a little bit of a high pain tolerance, but this really is not bad at all.

I do want to mention, don’t panic if there is a tiny dot or two of blood. I mean you are getting injections in your face. So yea, you may have a little blood. Not a big deal. This may be the nurse in me saying it is not a big deal. But if you want botox and your wrinkles gone, it is not that big of a deal.

Don’t mind my post botox injection face!!! NO LONGER A BOTOX VIRGIN! This was immediately after my injections. Yes, there is a dot of blood on my forehead. Don’t panic. It was pretty painless and 200% worth it!!! It takes 7-14 days to see results. I started to see results in 4-7 days and by day 10, I could pretty much see full results.

The results

I no longer have my pesky 11 (eleven) “static” lines between my brows that my makeup used to get stuck in. And my forehead is pretty much wrinkle free. I have a couple lines above my eyebrows and I still have movement of my brows because I requested that. What I love about botox is that it can be totally tailored to EXACTLY what you want. If you have been considering botox, reach out to my sister. Even if you don’t personally know her but you know me, you can be 100% honest with her and tell her your fears about botox, just like I did.

Botox has gotten a bad reputation over the years. Rightfully so I suppose; no one wants to be botched (I am sure you have all seen that show). Those people get a whole heck of a lot more than just botox! That is why it is so important to be open and honest about your fears and communicate what you are looking for and what you are not looking for. Everyone has different goals of what they want to look like. I can tell you that my sister personally would not want her face to have as much movement as my face has. It is all personal preference. But she is thrilled that I am thrilled with my results. She wants her clients to be happy and I am MORE THAN HAPPY with my results. You better believe that I will be getting my botox done on a regular schedule!!

making your appointment

You can contact my sister, Leslie via her business instagram, Vial of Youth or you can call or text her at 330-612-3691. If you have never met her, she is truly a gem. She is so dedicated to her career as an Aesthetic injector. She has worked her tail end off to train with the best for the past year in this business. I have personally seen her pour her heart and soul into this profession and I am so proud of her for finding her niche. It is truly life changing to be able to make a difference in this world of women. Our face is the first thing people see. And to be able to help other women feel more confident, enhance their natural features, and give them the results they want is something she is going to excel at. Cheers to lifting other women up and inspiring each other, one vial at a time!!!
