If you are a Sephora shopper, you know they RARELY have sales. They usually have their biannual sales events, like the one they are having now. So it is time to stock up in order to save money! On November 1st, they started the sale for Rouge members and I am embarrassed to say, I am a Rouge member. This is the first year I have ever hit this level and I blame it on my blog and trying new products. Hey, I took one for the team for you girls. I am going to give you the low down on the products I am stocking up on during this sale, since Rouge members get 20% off.
The sale opens to VIB members on November 7th and runs through November 11th. You are a VIB member if you spend $350 a year and sign up for their rewards program (give them your email) and you get 15% off during this sale. You can get 10% off just by registering with your email, even if you have never shopped at Sephora before and receive 10% off between November 7th through November 11th! skin care and primer
First up, some skin care basics that I am loving. I was in the market a few months ago for a mask for blackheads and impurities. I love this gentle one by philosophy. It is not too harsh, but gets the job done. I use it 1-2x a week and it is an exfoliating clay mask. I usually put it on about 15-20 minutes before I get in the shower. For deeper exfoliating, I massage the mask a little harder into my face as I am applying it to penetrate the skin.
I have talked about the Tatcha Water Cream before. It is a little pricey and if you have never tried it, stop into Sephora and ask for a sample before buying!! They will make you a good sized sample for free of any of these products to try for a week or so before buying. This cream is oil free and I have used it for a couple years. It smells amazing and just makes my skin feel SO GOOD. I have super sensitive skin and this has always worked so well for me.
Primer before foundation is something I started using when I launched my blog. I never thought it was necessary but I never go without it now. I started with the Fenty Beauty one and really like it still. But recently snagged the POREfessonial primer to help with larger pores and LOVE IT. It was a flash sale they had and I got it. The key with primer is to PAT it in the skin and not rub it on, like you would with moisturizer. It really helps to make your foundation stay in place all day long. Both of these are oil free and great! I am definitely grabbing one of the POREfessional primers during this sale!
Foundation and CC cream
Okay, lets talk foundation and CC cream. I have tried TONS of foundations. And for my skin, nothing compares to Too Faced Born This Way. This is a medium to full coverage, oil free foundation. I have naturally red toned and some acne scars that I prefer to cover when applying makeup. Just personal preference, I am not beating myself up about it. Just for the purpose of explaining why I use heavier coverage foundation. I use the shade Snow – year around. I will use a dab of CC cream in the summer to make it a tad darker when I have a bit more color (I get the oil free matte to prevent sweating in the heat). This shade is Light/Medium in the IT Cosmetics CC+ cream. It also has SPF 40 in it. In the winter, I stick with a dab of the IT Cosmetics CC+ cream in the shade Light. I love these and they last FOREVER. For someone who does not need as much coverage, you may be able to get away with just using the CC cream and skip the foundation. Like I mentioned above, go to Sephora and grab samples of these before you buy!! Sephora also has an amazing feature online called the “Shade Finder.” You put in any foundation you have ever used and the shade and it will match you to another brands shade.
blush, highlighter, and setting powder
Ohhh, how I love blush. There is just something about rosy cheeks that I find so feminine and I always overdo blush and I will probably never stop. This Marc Jacobs blush is in the shade Lush and Libido and goes from light pink to whoa pink so you can make it more dramatic if you want.
This is not the everyday highlighter or illuminator that I use, but this one is half off and it is BEAUTIFUL. I used this on a GORGEOUS bride that I did makeup for last month and it was stunning. This is perfect for a night out on the town and with the sale price, you can’t beat it. This is the Kat Von D Gold Skool Metal Crush highlighter. It has specs of gold shimmer and just glistens.
Setting powder is also something I never used until the past year or so. I use setting powder on my whole face, but the one pictured here is my favorite. I use the Fenty Beauty setting powder in the shade Lavender for my under eye area. I love a bright, highlighted under eye and I put this over top of my concealer (sadly, my holy grail concealer is only found at Ulta). This is very light. So if you have darker skin, you may want to go with the shade, Butter. I apply this with a damp beauty blender and I pat this in as well- do NOT drag this on your skin. I have a whole makeup tutorial under the beauty tab here on the blog.
lip colors
You all have to be so tired of hearing about the Sugar Fresh in the shade Bloom, it is the OG for me. I got a new one in the shade Orchid which is soooo pretty, but it is pretty bright. These are so moisturizing and I love these, but they are expensive. I have tried to find good dupes for these and they always come up short. So the hunt continues and I will snag a few of these during this sale because I am obsessed. I will most likely wear the Orchid color in the summer months.
My go to winter color is Tarte in the color Salt Lyfe. It is a collection that I found online called Rainforest of the Sea from Tarte and it is the perfect mauve/nude. It has cooler undertones and it looks good on so many skin tones. It is creamy and not matte. So I like that because it does not dry your lips out. I do put an NYX gloss over it because I like the glossy look, but it is not necessary. I could go on and on about lip colors, but these are my few faves from Sephora.
eyeshadow
I had the hardest time narrowing down eyeshadows to share with you girls. But these are my current favorites. Which if you know me, could change when I walk in a makeup store next week! Haha! This Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette is BOMB.COM – My new favorite thing is finding palettes that have shades that I can create an entire look with (including lining my eyes with the darkest shadow). This one has the perfect mix of matte and shimmer and can be used year round.
The Tartelette Toasted palette screams fall and I. Am. Here. For. It. It is gorgeous and also has the perfect mix of mattes and shimmery colors to create the perfect look for basic looks that you can make darker for date nights or girls night out.
The little shadow in the middle is my year around go to base color. It is by Urban Decay in the shade “Virgin.” It is a shimmery pearl color and I love using it as my base color for any look.
hair care
So, I have my managing cosmetology license that I still maintain. I have searched and searched for dry shampoo that worked and finally stumbled upon one that I love. Downside- it is pricey. But, all good things come with a price tag. And if it means I do not have to wash my hair for 4-5 days- sign me up. This dry shampoo is PRICELESS. Seriously. I have not met one person who has tried it and does not love it.
If I did not think I could not love another hair product any more than the dry shampoo- introduce…. Living Proof Dry Volume Blast. The holy grail of volume for someone with baby fine hair. After losing about half of my hair due to gastric bypass surgery – this stuff gives my hair volume for daysssssss. I love this stuff so much. I have cans and cans of this around my house and I just bought more. Don’t judge until you try.
I linked the big ones of both above because they are the better deal. But there are travel sizes if you want to try those instead.
Travel dry shampoo. Travel Dry Volume Blast.
There you have it! What I am currently loving, using, obsessing over!!! Become a Beauty Insider by signing up with your email at Sephora.com and using the code HOLIDAYSAVE at checkout.
Love and Hugs,
♥ Maddie xoxo
